On the most luxurious avenue in Paris

Categories : Fashion and Shopping, published on : 5/31/22

The Champs-Élysées garners most of the superlatives and remains a considerable centre of attraction. However, a few steps away is another major artery that is not as grand but just as refined, symbolising both luxury and French elegance. The Avenue Montaigne long ago established itself as the hub of Parisian haute couture. Today, the Ouest Hôtel team invites you to discover it and enjoy a luxury shopping spree and a cultural outing.

In the heart of the Parisian Golden Triangle

Running from the Champs-Élysées roundabout to the Place de l'Alma and commanding a magnificent view of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower, the Avenue Montaigne occupies a privileged location in the very chic 8th arrondissement. This prestigious street forms one side of the Triangle d’Or (Golden Triangle), a district of palaces, corporate headquarters, luxury boutiques and residences of the well-to-do. It is also characterised by its English-inspired architecture, with wide pavements and buildings set back behind small gardens surrounded by low walls. This distinctive appearance adds to the ambiance when you’re strolling and window-shopping...

Shopping on the Avenue Montaigne

During your stay at the Ouest Hotel, it will only take you about twenty minutes on foot along the most beautiful streets of Paris to reach this avenue of luxury. Since Christian Dior opened his fashion house there after the war, it has become the privileged setting for the biggest brands. Chanel, Vuitton, Yves Saint-Laurent, Céline, Chloé, Thierry Mugler as well as Italy’s Prada and Gucci have their display windows gazing out upon this legendary thoroughfare. As you walk along the Avenue Montaigne, you will be privy to tantalising glimpses of the world's must-have haute couture. And even if you don’t intend to buy, the shops remain fascinating places to visit and admire.

A cultural stroll on the Avenue Montaigne

In some 300 years of existence, what was once a modest path running through the gardens of a religious institution has changed considerably! Although the avenue largely assumed its current appearance during the 19th century, it remains a showcase of various architectural styles. Among the remarkable buildings, don't miss the superb Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with its Art Deco architecture and magnificent marble bas-reliefs by Bourdelle. A little further on, the curves of the flowered balconies of the Plaza Athénée catch the eye. This is one of the most luxurious Parisian palaces. At numbers 50 and 52, the Hôtel de Lariboisière presents a very fine example of classical architecture. Finally, at number 30, the renowned address of the house of Christian Dior, you can take advantage of the very recent opening of the Galerie Dior and step into the world of the great couturier.

A magnificent tree-lined avenue leading from the Champs-Élysées to the Seine, the Avenue Montaigne is undoubtedly one of the most refined and elegant places in Paris. Treat yourself to some luxury window shopping during your stay at the Ouest Hôtel!
